Sinds 2015 actief in de muziek, zowel direct als producer, songwriter en engineer maar ook indirect als manager, coach en docent. De laatste jaren heb ik veel verschillende dingen gedaan en zo muziek vanuit allerlei verschillende hoeken mogen ervaren. Zo heb mijn diploma “Muziek & Technologie” aan de HKU behaald, een Artist Management bedrijf mede opgebouwd en mijn eigen bedrijf voor lesgeven en coaching gestart.

Binnen mijn bedrijven heb ik voornamelijk gewerkt met Nederlandse jeugdartiesten en Influencers waarvan onder andere Alessio de Martino, Jay Zwarts, Khasa en Hannesie. Hiermee heb ik onder andere meerdere tracks uitgebracht, zijn we op CD verschenen, heb ik een track geschreven voor een programma op de NPO en heb ik deze artiesten begeleid met hun carrière.

VAN TECHNIEK NAAR MUZIEK

[/fusion_title][fusion_text rule_style=”default” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” sticky_display=”normal,sticky”]Ondertussen begon ik ook na te denken over waar ik nou echt passie voor heb in het leven. Muziek stond altijd dicht bij mij maar nooit in de context van hoe vele andere producers beginnen. Als kind heb ik bijvoorbeeld nooit een instrument leren bespelen. Voor mij begon het pas aan het einde van mijn tienerjaren toen ik enkele EDM festivals bezocht. Ik vond het fascinerend hoe die shows georganiseerd werden. Van licht tot geluid, de duizenden mensen die samenkomen – het is zon unieke beleving die alleen op dat moment te ervaren is. Ik wilde ontdekken wat er achter zat. Vooral de muziek. Hoe maak je die muziek en kan ik dat ook maken, dat is wat ik wilde weten.

Ik dook volledig in het diepe en was elke dag bezig met muziek maken. Maar toen kwam ik er al snel achter dat het allemaal niet zo simpel is. Het is een complexe puzzel waar de antwoorden nooit zeker van zijn. Toch wilde ik blijven ontdekken en uitvinden wat de sleutel tot succes is.

Omdat ik graag wilde leren ging ik op zoek naar een plek waar ik kon groeien. In totaal heb ik in dat jaar drie verschillende cursussen gevolgd(zowel in groepsverband als privé) die mij ontzettend geholpen hebben in mijn proces. Tijdens het volgen van deze cursussen werd het zeker voor mij dat muziek de passie was waar ik vol voor moest gaan. Ik besloot in het jaar dat erop volgde om mij aan te melden voor de HBO opleiding Muziek & Technologie aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht. Ondanks dat ik pas een jaar muziek maakte ben ik door het strenge selectieproces gekomen en was ik aangenomen. Muziek is namelijk veel meer dan de liedjes die je op de radio hoort. Achter elke vorm van geluid zitten gespecialiseerde mensen die zich jarenlang ontwikkeld hebben om precies te kunnen maken wat jij hoort. Om zelf op dat niveau te komen ga je dus een specialisatie moeten kiezen om op te focussen.

Dit bracht mij terug naar mijn tijd bij de McDonald’s en de docentenopleiding. Mensen leren begrijpen en ze nieuwe dingen leren is iets wat ik al goed kon en waar ik passie voor had. Waarom combineer ik mijn passie voor het doceren niet met mijn passie voor muziek.

Met die gedachtegang ben ik samen met een oude klasgenoot een Artist Management Agency + Label begonnen binnen het Nederlandse Hiphopgenre. Onze focus lag op het zoeken van jong talent dat nog groei nodig had. Zo was het aan mij als coach om deze artiesten te ondersteunen. In de afgelopen twee jaar heb ik een tiental aan artiesten intensief begeleid in hun muzikale proces.

Ondanks dat we veel leuke en mooie dingen bereikt hebben binnen het bedrijf kon ik mijn voldoening er niet geheel uithalen. De artiesten deelden namelijk niet de passie voor de muziek zoals ik die wel heb. Als je het alleen voor het geld en de fame doet dan kijk je anders tegen dingen aan en dan neem je het muzikale proces eenmaal niet serieus. Daarnaast was het dankzij de pandemie niet meer mogelijk om de artiesten op te laten treden. Hierdoor viel een groot deel van ons verdienmodel weg. De ervaringen die ik opgedaan heb bij bij de Artist Management Agency heb ik meegenomen en zo heb ik mijn eigen concept gecreëerd. De cursus Modern Music Producer heb ik ontworpen voor producers en artiesten die wel een passie voor muziek hebben – en het proces dat daarbij hoort.

Net zoals ik vijf jaar geleden door mijn cursusdocenten geïnspireerd werd om het meeste uit mijzelf te halen, is het nu mijn persoonlijke missie om als docent hetzelfde te doen voor de komende
